The Illinois Funeral Directors Association is pleased to announce that its Crematory Operator Refresher Course has been officially approved by the Illinois Office of the Comptroller. This course fulfills the state-mandated two-hour continuing education requirement for certified crematory operators, as outlined in the Illinois Crematory Regulation Act.
Developed to provide a focused review of crematory statutes, regulations, and best practices, the course reinforces key aspects of compliance, documentation, chain of custody, and professional responsibility. Participants will gain valuable updates on recent legislative changes affecting crematory operations in Illinois, including topics related to the Integrity in Death Care Act.
The program will be presented by Michael Sharkey, Esq., IFDA Counsel, and Trevor Davies, CFSP, CCO, IFDA President – Elect and certified crematory operator with extensive practical experience in crematory management and training. Together, they will provide both regulatory and operational perspectives essential to maintaining compliance and upholding the highest standards of care.
This refresher course is designed for currently certified crematory operators seeking to stay current with Illinois regulatory requirements.
