Veterans Benefits

The rendering of Military Funeral Honors is available for all eligible veterans for no charge if requested by the family. As provided by law, an honor guard detail for the burial of an eligible veteran shall consist of not less than two members of the Armed Forces. One member of the detail shall be a representative of the parent Service of the deceased veteran. The honors detail will, at minimum, perform a ceremony that includes the ceremonial folding and presentation of the American flag to the next of kin and the playing of Taps.


What is provided?

Standard Honors Team Detail

Reserved for veterans that receive a military discharge that was honorable, other than honorable, or general and consists of:

  • Team of 2-3 Soldiers
  • Playing of Taps
  • Ceremonial folding and presentation of the American Flag

Modified Soldier Detail

Reserved for Retired Service Members, Active, National Guard, Reserve Soldiers, Enlisted Pay Grade E-9, General Officers (O-7 and Above), Medal of Honor Recipients, and Service Members Killed in Action and Consists of:

  • Team of 9 Soldiers
  • 3 Volleys of Rifle Fire
  • 6-Soldier Casket Bearer Detail
  • Playing of Taps
  • Ceremonial Folding and Presentation of the American Flag
