Constitution Voting

The Constitution & By-Laws Committee met with the purpose to review the Constitution & By-Laws. After a review, it was decided that changes were needed. The committee set out to look at the Constitution & By-Laws more intently and with an eye on where the profession is headed. The committee completed its work and presented the results to the Board for approval per Constitution requirements. The Board approved the committee’s recommendations and made a motion to move forward with the voting process. The Board of Directors of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association recommends approval of the amendments to the Constitution as presented.

Please review the proposed changes, which include updated and consistent definitions of the membership categories, clearer definitions of various sections of the Constitution and the elimination of District Associations due to IDFPR requirements governing the licensing of approved continuing education sponsors. The new Constitution also redefines voting on the Constitution, in order to allow for future voting on Constitution amendments to be held by mail or electronic means. This will allow more members to participate. Eliminations to the Constitution are indicated by stricken red text. Additions to the Constitution are in red text.

Based on current Constitution requirements, voting will take place at the Convention. Voting members who are registered for the Convention will receive a ballot when they pick up their Convention materials. Members who are voting eligible and wish to vote but not attend the Convention can pick up a ballot at the Convention to cast a vote. Voting will be open from Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at 7:00am until the closing of the Professional Session at 2:55pm.

If you are not sure about your voting status, contact the IFDA office at or 217-525-2000.

The convention will be held at the Tinley Park Convention Center & Holiday Inn Hotel.
