Joan Stevens-Thome and Carol Searcy, from the Sangamon County Department of Public Health, will be presenting Opioid Overdose: Prevention and Community Empowerment. The training will cover the national opioid crisis and include national, state, and local statistics, as well as what the community can do to help and how to use naloxone in response to an opioid overdose. Anyone who is interested in taking a naloxone kit with them may do so at the end of the presentation. Richard Hamilton, of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association, will follow with a presentation relating the opioid crisis to funeral directors and suggesting ways to support the community. Attendees will receive 2 hours of interactive funeral directing continuing education credit upon conclusion of the event. Sign up today, as space is limited to the first 20 registrants!
